It's so nice to have you here! I'm Ashley Epstein, RN, BSN, AHA and I serve the DFW area in the great state of Texas. This little internet space is here for you to get a glimpse into two of my greatest passions: empowering others and promoting wellness with wholesome options. With a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and 10 years of clinical experience as a Pediatric RN, I have practiced along the spectrum of our healthcare system. I have a profound belief in the power of education and integrative medicine, because I have seen the fruit of holistic care.
I have been the patient, the mother, the family member, and the caregiver and I know that making decisions out of fear or coercion rarely ends well. What I want you to know is that you have options and you are not alone. When it comes to unexpected situations - you have options. When it comes to addressing true health and wellness - you have options.
I would love to come alongside you and your loved ones as you navigate all the roads before you.
My Story
Let's start at the beginning. I grew up in a small town (that's not so small anymore) just west of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. My mom had a traumatic birth experience with me and as a result, I was care flighted to the nearest NICU for over a week. She says I came out a fighter and that holds true to this day. I continued to have various surgeries and ailments throughout my childhood and adolescence and we never questioned the status quo approach to all things medical. After some difficult life choices into my mid twenties (that I can now say I'm grateful for), I finally realized I wanted to become a nurse.
I attended Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL and graduated with my BSN. Shortly, after obtaining my license, I moved to Dallas to accept a position at Dallas Children's Medical Center. I worked there for 8 years on various units and gained valuable insight into what it means to practice in our healthcare system. When my husband and I became pregnant, it was like the proverbial switch flipped. I started asking better questions and searching for greater understanding about how our bodies work, how they were designed, how we treat them, and the ocean of options we have but aren't privy to for some reason. I wanted my first baby to experience life differently than I had. And, when our second baby came along, my knowledge was even greater, my experience stronger, and I felt more empowered to allow my natural instincts to take over. What I have learned is that we need both functional and allopathic medicine. There is a valuable place for both but we often feel forced to only incorporate one. I believe this is changing and I am here for it!
This is now how I fight and I hope it's just the beginning. I research, I question the status quo, I practice a holistic philosophy in our home, and I desire to help others find their best options and gain confidence. I want to bring our heads and hearts together to not only be prepared but also thoughtful in all of our healthcare needs. One day, I dream to grow this space into more services and wholesome options so that you will have a safe place to come when you need to fight or simply live well.
